Fabio Deon

Deon

He graduated (cum laude) in Physics at the Universiy of Pisa in 2006, with a thesis on the optical probing of the collective excitations of electrons confined in semiconductor heterostructures. Both during his PhD at Scuola Normale Superiore (2007-2011) and as a post doc at the University of Geneva (2011-2014), he worked in the domains of experimental condensed matter physics and nanoscience. More specifically, his research focused on the electronic properties of semiconductor and graphene nanostructures, and particularly on phenomena related to single-electron transport, the superconducting proximity effect and electronic quantum interference.

Giuseppe De Maio

De Maio

Graduated masterful in in "Biomedical Engineering" with 110/110 at the University of Florence with a thesis entitled “FEM analysis and experimental validation of rapid expander for orthodontics”. The research focuses on structural analysis of biomedical devices, through the use of methods of numerical simulation of three-dimensional models. The knowledge of finite elements was strengthened by work done in the office of design at the company Leone S.p.A. in Florence as an FEM analyst. The passion for programming comes durations collaboration to L.I.A.B. (Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Biomedical Acoustics) of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of the University of Florence for a project Spectral analysis of infant crying in MatLab and C environment.

Michele Ferrucci

Ferrucci

Born in Jesi, Marche, Italy, in 1989. After attending “Liceo Scientifico” as high school, I got a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics at “Università Politecnica delle Marche” and finally a Master Degree in Statistics at University of Siena, cum laude. I had a certain passion for numbers since I was a child, making comparisons on statistics red on old paper atlas. This passion remained latent until my first Statistics exams at University. So it was not by fate if I attended a Master Degree in this field; there I found back my old passion. Once graduated, I had already realized that I wanted to go deeper in Statistics knowledge, but not about theory: I was looking for something that could improve my “practical Statistics skills”, that kind of Art of getting “gold nuggets” from huge datasets which is Data Mining. So here I am attending “Big Data Analytics & Social Mining” Master at University of Pisa. I really hope going on discovering new ideas, learning new techniques, acquiring new skills to find greater satisfactions in this new pioneer job field called Data Science.

Leonardo Nizzoli

Nizzoli

Born in Pisa on the 22nd of May, 1984. In October, 2010 he earned with honors the Master Degree in Physics, with an experimental thesis on the non-linear propagation of ultra-short, intense laser pulses in gases and plasmas, in target conditions for the laser acceleration of relativistic electron bunches. From early 2011 to the end of 2015, he collaborated with 40South Energy s.r.l. to the design, realisation and test of sea wave energy converters and wavemeters. He attended to the design of the control systems of wave energy converters, their software and hardware implementation, and their validation through fluid-dynamics simulations, learning programming skills both in simulation (Matlab, Mathematica, Comsol Multi-Physics) and in complex hardware systems handling. Engaged in political, social and cultural life in Pisa, he was member and founder of the Aut-Aut Cultural Association, and member of the board of the website www.autautpisa.it, online up to 2014.

2015-2016

Carlo Ceriotti

Ceriotti

Born in Busto Arsizio(VA) in 1988, I earned a Master degree in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano. I spent 6 months in Boston(MA) where I developed my master thesis about novel skin conductance algorithms at MIT, Harvard Medical School (MGH). Then I worked as research fellow at CNR (National Research Council) in Lecco where we developed sensorized orthosis particularly by designing electronic circuits, studying SMA (Shape memory alloys) and their applications as well as using machine Learning techniques to accelerometers data coming from clinical trials on stroke patients’ arms. Since my first experience with Machine Learning and Data Mining, I fell in love with it, acquiring self taught basic ML and Data Mining skills and web languages, directing my career towards this amazing path.
